  2. The book Forty Acres and maybe a mule is a great book. It takes place after the Civil War during Reconstruction. A young boy named pascal is a slave who wants to be free very badly. His brother Gideon (they were seperated as young kids) comes and tells him they're free. The whole book they are looking for freedom with their friends and family. It is a wonderful book and sends a very good message.-Parker

  3. I think this book gives fantastic detailing and idea of what Reconstruction was like. I also recamend this book for teachers to read in social studies. this book has so much information to offer. This book is also a gret book to read because it is very interesting to me. It is a great way to learn how slaves were treated. It also shows how slavery has changed over time. That's what I think of the book. -Roman
