It's TRIBE time!

This year we have divided up the entire school in to 6 different tribes. These tribes will earn points for positive behaviors, good grades, going over and beyond expectations, etc. Tribes will be competing on every grade level and will compete in different challenges through out the year. Once a month, the tribes will all come together for a monthly tribal "pep rally". Each tribe is also expected to cheer for one another and show good sportsmanship. Even though each tribe wants to WIN, they will learn the power of healthy/fun competition!

Yesterday the fifth graders led our first tribal pep rally. The teachers got to choose their tribes and the students went wild. Here is the link to my tribe- UPENDO (love) and our first tribal cheer.

WILD about LEARNING!

Well, here we go. It is time to start back to school again. Monday is our Parent Orientation. If you are a fifth grader, we will have two meetings for you to attend in the auditorium- one at 8:15 and one at 2:00. We will hand out important paper work and give you lots of valuable information on what you will need to make this school year a success! We are looking forward to meeting everyone and excited about what this year holds.
Thursday we had our district celebration where we celebrated Mrs. O'Neal as Calhoun's teacher of the year as well as a district finalist! GO BOBO!!!! We love you and are so proud of you!
Positive Friday- Stay Positive... Even when the going gets tough, stay positive.

Mrs. O'Neal is putting on a race for a little girl named Lilly who is 3 and has brain cancer. Here is some information below if you are interested!

The Run for Lilly will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 9:00. You don't have to be a runner to participate...volunteers are also greatly appreciated! It's a 5K (3.1 mile) course along the Saluda River in the beautiful Acadia Community, located on 153 in Piedmont near the Toll Road. We will have entertainment, food, and a raffle after the race. I have spent most of my summer organizing and planning this event, and so far I've been able to get two autographed Clemson footballs; one signed by Sammy Watkins' and another by Dabo Swinney, that we'll be giving away in the raffle. We have many other prizes to give away as well, including a weekend stay at the Marriot and a day at the spa!!!

In order to register, you have to go to our registration site at www.go-greenevents.com, but you can donate or learn more about Lilly by visiting www.runforlilly.com.
