The Artful Adventurer
A Tale of her Crew and their Search for Treasure



Calhoun Parents,
We are getting really excited about the School Performance, The Artful Adventurer.  The dates set for these performances are; Tuesday, February 28th at 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM and Thursday, March 1st at 6:00 PM.  All students will need to bring or have their costume on when they come to school on Tuesday, February 28th for the morning performance and will need to be in their classrooms by 5:30 dressed in their costume for the evening performances.  We would like for you to use items that you have around the house or that you can borrow from someone to help make your child look like a pirate in search for treasure.

Suggestions for costumes:
Pants - Blue Jeans, Khaki Pants, Dark Pants, Etc…- These can be cut off in a zig zag or straight cut or just rolled up.  Patches can be added to the pants to make them appear old and worn, holes can be made in the knee area or below, but not so many as to make them look too ragged.
Shirts - Striped or Solid T-shirts - These can be short or long sleeve and can have buttons. 
The t-shirts can be v-neck, crew neck, preferably no writing on the t-shirt.
Shoes - Boots or Dark Shoes- No backless shoes or shoes that will make a lot of noise as students walk on the stage.
Optional items: 
Bandanas- secured - tied on head, around neck, through a belt loop
Belts- Large Pirate-like Belts
Sashes- Fabric sashes instead of belts (Please pin or make sure they will not fall off)
Vests- Button up vests
PLEASE, NO STORE BOUGHT OR HALLOWEEN PIRATE COSTUMES! 
NO HATS (Only bandanas - These cast shadows on the actors’ faces.
NO EYE PATCHES, SWORDS OR HOOKS ARE NEEDED.
We will have a dress rehearsal on Friday, February 24th to help us see how the students will look for the performance.  Please sign the form below and return it to your child’s teacher by
Friday, January 27th.  It helps us to know if your child will attend all of the performances so that we will be able to place the students appropriately on the stage.
