Today students learned about nutrition and tried some different fruits and vegetables. The afternoon was filled with EXERCISE- ZUMBA style!

ENGAGE Day #2
Today we learned self defense and the ABC's of Etiquette! The girls were introduced to Super Rude and Miss Audrey- the lady in black. :) Super Rude did everything she WASN'T SUPPOSED TO DO! The girls had a good time while Super Rude threw napkins, plates and bread and chips across the room. They even had a chance to be the waitress and the "customer". They acted out the "rude" way and the polite way.

A. When you first sit down for
a meal, immediately place a napkin in your lap.
B. When you are finished
eating, place your napkin on the table to the left of your plate.
C. Never place your elbows on
the table.
D. Use one hand to eat, unless
you are cutting or buttering food. Never have your fork in one hand and a glass
in the other.
E. Do not lick your fingers.
Use a napkin!
F. Do not smack your lips or
chew noisily.
G. Do not chew with your mouth
open.
H. Do not talk with your mouth
full.
I. If something is caught in
your teeth, don’t go in after it; wait until you are in the restroom to remove
it.
J. Do not slurp.
K. Do not play with your food.
L. If you drop your fork,
napkin, or anything on the floor, wait to pick it up after you eat. Don’t
forget to wash your hands!
M. Always use your utensils to
eat. Here are the 10 types of foods that you may eat with your hands:
1. pizza
2. bacon
3. cookies
4. bread (tear off a small bite
to eat)
5. corn on the cob (eat across
instead of eating around)
6. hotdogs, hamburgers,
sandwiches, and breakfast biscuits
7. French fries and chips
8. fried chicken
9. asparagus (yes, asparagus!)
10. small fruits or raw
vegetables (grapes, apples, oranges, carrots, celery)
N. Never reach over someone’s
plate to get something. You should say, “Will you please pass the salt?”
O. Never start eating off your
tray until you are at your seat.
P.
When eating at a restaurant, you are not to begin eating until everyone
at the table has received their food.
Q. You should never complain if the line is too long, the food
isn’t good, or if there is a wait.
R. If you are unaware of what silverware to use, simply start
with the fork, knife, or spoon that is farthest from your plate.
S. When you are finished
eating, do not push your plate away from you.
T. Never place a piece of
silverware that you have used back on the table. Leave it on your plate.
U. If you didn’t use a utensil,
do not place it on a plate or saucer when you are finished. Just leave it where
it is.
V. In a restaurant, always look
the waiter in the eyes when you are ordering, asking a question, or saying
thank you.
W. Make a point to remember the
waiter’s name when he/she introduces himself to you. Use his/her name as often
as possible throughout the meal.
X. If you have to use the
restroom, you should standup and say, “Excuse me,” as you leave the table.
Y. When you are asked what side
orders or desserts you would like, it is best to ask, “What are my options?”
Z. Never talk to waiters or
waitresses as if they are servants. Treat them with respect and kindness.

CAMP E.N.G.A.G.E.
Enabling Girls with
Academics, Good Behavior,
and Encouragement
This week we are doing a Girls' Camp at Calhoun called ENGAGE. Mrs. O'Neal, a fellow fifth grade teacher, came up with the idea. I am just her side kick! :) Today was our first day and it was a HUGE success. Below are the goals for the camp, and a video of today is at the end. ENJOY! We look forward to the rest of the week. We have a lot of things in store for these 4th and 5th grade girls! Thanks Mrs. O'Neal for getting it all together and allowing me to be apart!

activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and

Middle School Ahead
Well, this year has come to an end. We accomplished so many things this year, and we are setting sail for a new adventure in MIDDLE SCHOOL! Thank you parents and students for a great year! This year we also say FAREWELL to Mr. P as he studies to become a PASTOR! We love you Mr. P and Room 55 will always have special memories. Call Me Maybe will continue to live on! LOL
